The island of Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands, and probably the most popular with visitors. In fact, studies suggest that over the last one hundred years holidaymakers have risen from one hundred a year to a staggering 11 million.
For an island of only 778,000 inhabitants, this is an impressive level of tourism and suggests that Tenerife really does have quite a lot to write home about. Tenerife has become the holidaymaker’s dream island because it has something for everyone, from the scenery and the beaches to the weather and the climate. So why do so many people come here? Unsurprisingly it would seem that the British come for the sun. A quick peak at the average temperature in summer and in winter, which generally only varies by about 10 degrees, will confirm that Tenerife is the perfect destination for those fed up with the British weather.

You can get to Tenerife from many European counties direct by air. You can fly by cheap no frills carriers from the UK with the likes of EasyJet and Ryanair, also other airlines that fly direct to Tenerife in clued British Airways, Monarch, Aerligus and Jet2. Other charter airlines also operate from the UK including Thomas Cook, Thomson Fly, RyanAir, Jet2 and First Choice.
Almost all flights to Tenerife from the UK go to Tenerife South Airport (Reina Sofia), there is also an airport in the North of Tenerife which is serviced by British Airways scheduled flights from London Heathrow Airport. The only ferry to Tenerife from Europe is from Cadiz on the Spanish mainland, although there are many cruise ships that stop by.

From the lush rainforests of the north and sun-baked south to the mountain range in the middle – you’ll find Tenerife teeming with tourist treasures. The most popular beaches are located in the sout of Tenerife h. Here, you’ll find long, family-friendly man-made stretches of fine sand with all the amenities you could wish for. Many have been awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness, and offer watersports, changing facilities and sun loungers. Main resorts have palm trees & many shops, bars and restaurants for refreshmen
